Fairgrounds Flea Market
For those of you who love a good bargain and aren’t afraid of buying used items, you might try the Lafayette Indiana Fairgrounds Flea Market on the first Sunday of every month. Today was an especially wonderful day for bargain hunting with the outside temperature around 75 degrees, a light breeze, a beautiful blue sky with occasional clouds, and lots of great deals to be made. The event this weekend was very well attended with the parking area full to overflowing.
My wife and I are regular attendees of the flea market. We like deals. My wife loves antique photographs and postcards from the 1800′s and early 1900′s. She was not disappointed in her search today. One vendor had several to choose from and my wife got a real deal on some very interesting portrait photographs and old tintypes. We don’t know the stories of the people in the old photos, but just imaging who they were and what they were like is interesting.I usually like to look at tools and electronics when I go to the flea market. One regular vendor always has three or four tables full of CB radios, ham radio outfits, and electronics testing equipment of all kinds. I also enjoy looking at the old hand tools that craftsmen used before the advent of power tools.
Regardless of what kinds of items you like, getting outside on a nice summer day to mingle with the crowds of shoppers is a nice way to spend a Sunday and paying less for what you buy doesn’t hurt either.
